FC13 - edited grub.conf to contain:

quiet video=vesafb selinux=0

modified /etc/X11/xinit/Xclients to contain only one exec line at the bottom, all others commented out:

   if [ -x /usr/bin/mame ] ; then
        /usr/bin/mame -video opengl -norotate mspacmnf
   fi

modified rc.local to have

   pulseaudio --start
   startx && shutdown -h now
